MOSAIC: Together for a United Moldova in Diversity
The launch of the National MOSAIC Program in Mereni represented more than just an event – it was a clear signal that Moldova embraces its diversity as a strategic resource for the development of society.
In a complex and often polarized regional context, this initiative seeks to build real bridges between majority and minority communities. The Center for Civic Initiatives for National Minorities was present at the event not merely as a witness, but as an active part of this new beginning. Our participation once again demonstrated that the voice of minorities must be heard, and their involvement is essential for building a shared future.
The MOSAIC Program, initiated by the Agency for Interethnic Relations, aims to develop intercommunity cooperation platforms that facilitate communication, collaboration, and mutual learning among all segments of society. With its strong experience working with diverse communities, the Center brought valuable input in shaping these goals. Through concrete proposals and examples of best practices from its previous projects, the organization demonstrated that intercultural dialogue can be transformed into an effective mechanism for local development, civic engagement, and the prevention of social conflicts.
Throughout the event, ICPMN was present at all key moments: from the official welcoming of guests from Ceadîr-Lunga to the idea workshops and the joint artistic performance. During the “What can we do together?” workshop, the ICPMN team engaged in discussions on local civic initiatives, youth involvement, the valorization of shared cultural heritage, and the fight against stereotypes.
Through its active role in the launch of the MOSAIC Program, ICPMN reaffirmed its mission to build bridges between communities, to support the active participation of citizens from all ethnic groups, and to promote an inclusive society. The event in Mereni was not only a symbolic beginning but a concrete step toward a more united Moldova. ICPMN continues to play a central role in this process, becoming a model of effective collaboration between civic organizations, authorities, and citizens. In a country aspiring to European values, the work of ICPMN is becoming increasingly relevant and necessary.
