About Us

The Center for Civic Initiatives for National Minorities was founded in 2024 with the support of the European Union through the European Endowment for Democracy.

Protecting minority rights, raising the level of education, stimulating participation in
decision-making processes, developing civic activism, promoting media literacy,
and representation at all levels are the main objectives and mission of the
organization. In this context, we also pay attention to the language barriers faced
by representatives of national minorities. Multilingualism and insufficient knowledge
of the state language can limit access to education, employment, and social
services.

The idea of creating a unique organization and center that works in the field of
national, ethnic, and linguistic minorities arose due to the relevance of this issue in
the Republic of Moldova. European integration of the Republic of Moldova also
involves a process of social and legal reforms to achieve essential European values
and build a democratic society and state. In European Union countries, where the
issue of national minorities is as relevant as in the Republic of Moldova, there are
organizations focused on interethnic issues. For example, the European Center for
Minority Issues (Flensburg, Germany). The Center for Civic Initiatives for National
Minorities was created based on this model.

We collaborate with state authorities, civil society, and the media to support the
interests of national minorities. This is important as it ensures the consideration of
minority voices in the decision-making process. In a democratic society, the
involvement and representation of all social groups, including minorities, are
essential for social cohesion and harmonious development of the country. To
overcome language barriers, we offer educational programs and state language
learning courses and promote the development of policies aimed at supporting
multilingualism.

The problems faced by national minorities in Moldova include discrimination,
unequal access to education and public services, and low participation in political
processes. By collaborating with various institutions and promoting the rights and
interests of minorities, we strive to solve these problems, contributing to the
building of an inclusive and equitable society.
