Youth Minority Leaders Academy
The Youth Minority Leaders Academy is an educational and civic empowerment program targeting young people from Moldova’s southern regions – Gagauzia, Taraclia, and Basarabeasca – home to compact national, ethnic, and linguistic minority populations. These communities face several challenges: limited knowledge of the Romanian language, lack of youth leaders, restricted access to civic engagement opportunities, and exposure to Russian disinformation and propaganda.
The project seeks to train and support 100 young people from these communities through a structured program that includes thematic trainings (civic activism, democratic development, media literacy, participation in public decision-making), study visits to key institutions in Chișinău, and funding for youth-led local initiatives. Three local youth initiative groups will be established to design and implement small-scale projects addressing community-specific issues.
By equipping minority youth with leadership skills and opportunities for active participation, the Academy aims to foster a new generation of democratic, informed, and engaged young leaders who can challenge misinformation and contribute to inclusive societal development in Moldova.
