Increasing the Level of Political and Civic Participation among Ethnic, National, and Linguistic Minorities in the Republic of Moldova

Moldova is a multiethnic country where Russian-speaking minorities face increasing political and social isolation, fueled by Russian propaganda and the absence of effective dialogue with authorities. This dynamic negatively affects civic engagement, reinforces distrust in institutions, and fosters political marginalization. In regions such as Gagauzia and Taraclia, the lack of active civil society and access to reliable information in minority languages further exacerbates the issue, often exploited by pro-Russian actors.

The project introduces three key actions:

Organizing interethnic dialogues between government officials and minority representatives.

Producing 25 short informational videos in Russian, Gagauz, Bulgarian, and Ukrainian on power distribution and institutional roles.

Implementing the Summer Academy on Minority Rights, aimed at training youth from ethnic communities as civic leaders.

Through these interventions, the project will reduce isolation, boost civic and political participation, cultivate local leadership, and promote inclusive dialogue between the state and minority populations.
