#MinorityDialogue Speaks Up in Comrat
On July 9, 2025, the #MinorityDialogue platform was officially launched in Comrat, bringing together representatives of national, ethnic, and linguistic minorities from southern Moldova, alongside local authorities and international partners. Key guests included the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Moldova, Jaromír Plíšek, the Director General of the Agency for Interethnic Relations, Veaceslav Reabcinschii, and the Vice Mayor of Comrat, Victor Baldaji.
The event was opened by Mihai Peicov, Executive Director of ICPMN, who presented the objectives of the platform and stressed the need for stronger political representation of minorities. Ambassador Plíšek shared his personal experience working with Czech minorities in Romania and encouraged civil society to keep pushing forward. Veaceslav Reabcinschii emphasized the importance of establishing permanent channels of dialogue between the state and minority communities.
Participants engaged in open discussions about the obstacles faced in political and social life, highlighting the need for greater visibility and recognition. The debate was dynamic and inclusive, capturing the diversity of voices from across the region. Concrete proposals were presented on how to increase political participation and strengthen cooperation with state institutions.
All recommendations will be compiled into the “Declaration of National Minorities” — a document addressed to political parties and the Government, aimed at building a more inclusive, democratic, and equitable Moldova for all citizens.
